| Guadalajara Mostly Sunny. High 26C. 40 hours of driving and 4800 kms later we arrived in San Juan Cosala with no problems as we raced ahead of the current North American Cold Front.

| Agassiz Periods of rain ending this afternoon then cloudy. High 7.
|
| Agassiz Mainly sunny. Increasing cloudiness near noon then 30 percent chance of showers late this afternoon. High 9.
Martin tried a few different launch angles but it just wasn't happening so we drove back down.
|
| Agassiz Mainly cloudy. High 9. I was at Eagle Ranch after noon, and spent the afternoon kiting on the training hill with Janie. There were a few launchable moments looking at the telescope but we were focussing on wing control and feel as Janie has 18 flights now but still is not feeling the wing enough for her comfort level. We had conditions ranging from lightly reversible to getting up to +20 kph at times so it was a good workout for her after 4 hours! Ian J flew in with his ultralight and hung out for a bit, but no one else was out today. Counting down the days til Mexico.

| Agassiz Mainly cloudy. High 9. Nice launch cycles but no movement in the air as it was very stable. I drove Joe C, Martin N & George back up to retrieve and fly again and it was still cycling in but the same sled rides ensued. Gotta fly lots as the rain is coming later this week. Elk Hike & Fly Report - Unlike Bono, I have found what I'm looking for. The Ozone Alpina 2 ms is light, packs small, and was a delight to carry up Elk in forty-six minutes. The wing came up easily in a light, slight crosswind and I was airborne in a couple of steps. The wing seemed to hum along the ridge quickly but with a nice low sink rate. I had just flown a Buzz Z4 a few days earlier and although the B4 initiated gentle turns quickly, the A2 gave me what I wanted - smooth sporty turns that could become wing overs or spirals in a hurry with very precise control. I used this when I noticed a large plane flying directly towards me (it looked like a fire spotting plane checking out the smokey chaos below). I whipped the glider into some colourful spirals to ensure the pilot would spot me and deviate which is what occurred. The flight terminated at Eddy's where I was reminded of the awesome glide of Ozone's new wing . . . I had to go around a tree to lose altitude enough to come down where I wanted to. The wing switched from cross to tail as I was on final but the A2 still flared and stalled perfectly with only a few steps to stop. This will be a perfect wing for para alpinism and certainly a dream to travel with: perfect performance in a tight little package, words usually reserved exclusively for my wife and thus a huge compliment to the Ozone Boyz. | Agassiz Mainly sunny. High 6. Perfect training conditions but all the students are away this weekend. More Elk "Hike & Fliers" out today too.
We have had a huge run on Speed Wings this fall and the Ozone Firefly 2 is a great choice for beginner speed-fliers! The Ozone FIREFLY from Ozone Paragliders on Vimeo.

| Agassiz Sunny. Becoming a mix of sun and cloud this afternoon. Windy near Hope early this morning. High plus 3. Tip of the week: Always secure your ladder at the bottom when working on even short roofs. Ouch!
|
| Agassiz Mainly sunny. High plus 3. New student Stu S from Smithers arrived to learn how to Speed Fly by starting on a normal paraglider first. We headed to Mission's north training hill and Stu got 15 flights doing well on forward & reserve launching and had real talent using "FrankenBuzz".
Stu had a perfect forward launch and was practicing turns all the way out and had very nice coordinated turns right into the LZ for a perfect landing!
Stu left with a new Ozone Fazer 14 and will soon be blazing down the Smithers Ski Hill between shifts as a patroller. As we left Woodside Launch we bumped into Laura & Will who had flown Bridal earlier and were going to try another flight here at Woodside, nice to see the "keeners" out!
|
| Agassiz Showers ending near noon then clearing. Becoming windy this morning. High 6. It had looked way too strong from the SW to fly earlier but around 3:30 pm it started to calm down on launch and we had our nice normal SE flow in the LZ?? Maybe it can happen?? It took too long for Tom to get through the Hwy 1 slowdowns caused by last night's ultralight crash near Ross Road (between Mt Lehmann & 264th on the south side of and by the time they got to launch they had run out of daylight (the days are getting shorter).

| Agassiz A few showers ending this morning then mainly cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers. A few wet flurries near Hope early this morning. High plus 5. Andrei had been on top in the clouds a few hours earlier and reported to the boys that it was North?? He drove down. Ryan & Amine posted a pretty wild video of the gusts they experienced and drove down too. Reports from Tapalpa Mexico, where they are holding "Party in the Sky 2013" looked gloomy and wet. Normally when one plans a huge event . . . Murphy's Law kicks in and you get rain! Usually happens up here in Lumby when they plan a comp too.

| Agassiz Cloudy. Rain beginning early this morning. Amount 20 mm. Windy. Temperature steady near 8.

| Agassiz Cloudy. 60 percent chance of showers this morning and early this afternoon. High 12. After 30 minutes of shivering in the cold, strong winds we decided we would probably just get sucked over the back or worse . . . into the cloud so we drove back down. Maybe early on would have been better and go the glass work later but some may have flown if they had come out?

| Agassiz Cloudy. Rain beginning this morning. High 11.
|
| Agassiz Clearing this morning. Windy this morning. High 14. Memories of good flying days was captured in this video by Brett Hazlett (FlyBC sponsored comp pilot from North Vancouver) during a daring flight at Grouse Mtn this fall flying his new Gin Boomerang 9. | Agassiz Cloudy. High 6. We headed down to Woodside as NOAA said SW winds winds after noon, but we arrived to NW winds and strong. Also the launch was oscured by clouds. When launch cleared after some ground school, we drove up to find east winds on launch.
|
| Agassiz Cloudy with 60 percent chance of showers this morning and early this afternoon. Periods of rain beginning this afternoon. High 6.
|
| Agassiz Cloudy. High 7. Joe C & Martin N arrived just after noon and were unable to reach Derek on the radio too? I was doing some word working on the deck, pouring the nice concrete mix that I was able to score for free from Jeff S (no wood found in my bags). As I worked I saw some pilots coming in to land as it clouded over around 230 pm. Gloat reports included: Derek - 2:00 hours above launch, Martin N - 1:01, Tom C - 1:01, Claudia S - 35 minutes. I should have gone up and cut trees too! But I got my work done and Mexico flying is coming soon.
|
| Agassiz Cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers. Temperature steady near 6. We didn't start flying until 1 pm and it was coming in okay but not soarable like we thought according to NOAA. Peter logged 3 flights all sledders, as did a number of other desperados, launch was quite crowded for a cold Sunday. Reports from Blanchard said it was much liftier there and soarable. Sicamous Report - Jason & Lynn headed home through Sicamous and got a few fligths with their Aussie Pal.

| Agassiz Rain. Amount 10 mm. Wind becoming west 40 to 60 km/h late this afternoon. Temperature steady near 8.

| Agassiz Showers ending this morning then cloudy. Rain beginning late this afternoon. High 12. Our long time friend and pilot Jeffrey Miller is in the Honduras and is looking for some support to help his local flying community. Honduras CloudBase Foundation Link He is looking for gear donations that can help some of his neighbours get airborne. Honduras residents have a very low income and can use all the help they can get. If you are an instructor and can donate some time, that would be appreciated too. Honduras CloudBase Foundation Facebook Page

Jason was "jonesing" to try his brand new Ozone Swift 2 and he got a chance to fly it three times off Coyote Ridge. The winds were light to tailwind but the Swift 2 got off everytime with ease, as did Lynn on our Ozone Element III trainer wing.
